LE STUDIUM Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies is delighted to announce the opening of the 2024 Smart Loire Valley Programme application call on November 7th, 2023.

On the same day, Le Studium will be holding a webinar to present the Smart Loire Valley programme, the 2024 call guidelines, timetable, application process, evaluation criteria and advice on successful application.

How to apply to this programme?
 
How to find a host lab?
 
Can a PhD student or a master student apply for any of the formats?  
No, the Smart Loire Valley programme targets experienced researchers, at least 3 years after their PhD
 
What is the mobility rule?
The candidate must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline
 
Is it possible to apply for several formats for this call?
Yes, it is possible as long as you fall within the eligibility criteria
 
Is there a remuneration for visiting researcher or professorship?
No, there is a salary only for the integration fellowship
 
How are materials/reagent costs financed?
The host lab takes in charge the costs of consumables
 
Is there an age limit to apply for the programme?
Not for professorship or visiting researcher but for the integration fellowship the limit is 10 years after obtaining the PhD (junior researcher)
 
Can a researcher from a private company apply for this program?
Yes, they can at the same condition that apply for the academic researchers
 
Whose belong the ownership of a potential invention?
LE STUDIUM does not claim any right; the ownership of the invention has to be negotiated between the researcher and the host lab
 
During the professorship, is it expected that the researcher dedicate their time to other activities than research e.g. teaching?
LE STUDIUM does not expect researchers to teach for any of the format proposed. You are expected only to carry on your research. Anyway, if you would like to teach, you can
 
What is the percentage of success for the applicants?
It depends on how many applications we receive. It is usually around 30-35%
 
Is the support letter compulsory?
Yes because it is compulsory to have a host lab in order to apply
 
Is there a priority for some research domain over others?
No, all research domain are considered at the same level
 
Do the researcher need to have publications at the end of the project?
No, the obligation for the researcher is to send an activity report at the end of their residency
