For the past five years, with the support of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, the JUNON program has been developing a research hub—unique in France—at the intersection of the environment and digital technology. Building on the legacy of the PIVOTS program and its seven observation platforms, JUNON has established a comprehensive value chain—spanning everything from environmental sensors to digital twins of landscapes—to observe, understand, and predict changes in our terrestrial environments. Directly serving the region, JUNON provides public decision-makers and economic stakeholders with robust decision-support tools—covering water resource monitoring, pollution forecasting, risk management, and sustainable planning—as well as a unique digital environment for local co-development. This ambitious initiative relies on an exceptionally diverse consortium bringing together research organizations, universities, private companies, competitiveness clusters, and innovation hubs—an unprecedented alliance of Earth sciences, artificial intelligence, and the business world. With a global outlook, the program has also forged active collaborations across Europe, China, and the United States. On December 2 and 3, 2026, at the Hôtel Dupanloup in Orléans, JUNON will open its doors for an event that serves as both a review of achievements and a springboard for the future: showcasing results, highlighting the contributors, and co-creating the projects of tomorrow.

JUNON 2021-2026 — De l'observation à l'action : les jumeaux numériques au service des territoires |
Depuis 5 ans, le programme JUNON déploie avec le soutien de la Région Centre-Val de Loire un pôle de recherche unique en France, à l'interface de l'environnement et du numérique. Héritier du programme PIVOTS et de ses sept plateformes d’observations, il a bâti une chaîne de valeur complète — du capteur environnemental au jumeau numérique de plaine — pour observer, comprendre et prédire l'évolution de nos milieux continentaux. Au service direct du territoire, JUNON fournit aux décideurs publics et aux acteurs économiques des outils d'aide à la décision robustes : suivi des ressources en eaux, anticipation des pollutions, gestion des risques et aménagement durable ainsi qu’un environnement numérique inédit pour codévelopper au sein de nos territoires. Cette ambition repose sur un consortium d'une richesse inédite, qui réunit organismes de recherche et universités, entreprises privées, pôles de compétitivité, clusters et structures d'innovation— une alliance inédite entre sciences de la Terre, intelligence artificielle et monde économique. Ouvert à l'international, le programme a également tissé des collaborations actives en Europe, en Chine et aux États-Unis. Les 2 et 3 décembre 2026, à l'Hôtel Dupanloup d'Orléans, JUNON ouvre ses portes pour un temps de bilan et un tremplin vers l'avenir : rendre compte des réalisations, valoriser les acteurs et co-construire ensemble les projets de demain.

The conference venue is unique. Located right next to the Orléans’ cathedral, the episcopal palace of Orléans, built between 1635 and 1641, locally known as the Hôtel Dupanloup, is a classical French building which served until 1905 of residence to the bishops of Orléans. Since 2014, the renewed palace hosts the International University Center for Research and Le Studium Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies.
Participants will be welcomed in this exceptional surrounding, blending Middle Age and Renaissance cultures with modern design and will have the opportunity to discover French cuisine and wines.
Mercredi 2 décembre — Conférence (9h00–18h00)
Matinée — Résultats et réalisations Retour sur les avancées scientifiques et technologiques majeures du programme : de la métrologie environnementale aux jumeaux numériques de plaine. Projection d'un film de synthèse et présentation des jumeaux numériques nationaux.
Après-midi — Projets en cours et partenaires internationaux Première partie : présentation des projets collaboratifs en cours. Deuxième partie : interventions de nos partenaires internationaux sur les défis en lien avec la thématique des Jumeaux Numérique environnementaux.
Jeudi 3 décembre — Workshop collaboratif (9h00–13h00)
Demi-journée dédiée à la co-construction de nouveaux projets et collaborations. Réunissant les acteurs actuels de JUNON et les partenaires invités la veille, ce workshop interactif permettra d'identifier les synergies, de partager les besoins territoriaux et d'initier les montages de projets à venir.

Wednesday, December 2 — Conference (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Morning — Results and achievements: A review of the program’s major scientific and technological advances, ranging from environmental metrology to digital twins of river plains. Screening of a summary film and presentation of national digital twins.
Afternoon — Ongoing projects and international partners: Part one: presentation of current collaborative projects. Part two: presentations by international partners on challenges related to the theme of environmental digital twins.
Thursday, December 3 — Collaborative Workshop (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
A half-day dedicated to the co-development of new projects and collaborations. Bringing together current JUNON stakeholders and partners invited the previous day, this interactive workshop will identify synergies, share regional needs, and initiate the setup of future projects.
