     Research Interests:  soil processes, soil-to-plant cycles of major and
trace elements in agricultural and forest ecosystems, soil and clay minerals.

 

Bruno Delvaux is Emeritus Professor in soil science at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain). He holds a degree in agronomic engineering and a PhD in agronomic sciences (UCLouvain), and did two postdoctoral stays at CNRS (CPB Nancy) and INRA (Versailles). He joined FAO in Cameroon (1979-1984), then CIRAD in the French West Indies (1984-1990), and moved to UCLouvain as full Professor in 1991. He has been a visiting professor in Japan and France and associate editor and guest editor of international journals. Author and co-author of 15 textbook contributions and 139 peer-reviewed articles, he has led a research group in soil processes and soil-to-plant relationships, while coordinating bilateral and UE projects in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Carribean area. He is member of the Belgian Academy of Overseas Sciences, the French Academy of Agriculture, and the 5th Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils at FAO. At the institutional level, he was notably a member of the board of IITA (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture), dean of Faculty and rector of UCLouvain.
