Recent advances in 3D scanning technologies of buildings, combined with their progressive appropriation by an increasing number of users, make it possible today to consider the systematic production of data for historic buildings. Processing of these large amounts of multimodal data is essential for the monitoring and the diagnosis of built heritage. Thus, Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) appears today as a promising and critical strategy for making the best of the collected data.
However, due to the specificity of historic constructions (large-scale, complex and/or non-standardized architecture/materials/construction process, specific applications for monitoring), HBIM still faces challenges before being fully operational. This scientific event proposes to address these challenges by sharing the latest research in this field.
This Summer School is organised in the framework of the Advanced Technology Higher Education Network Alliance (ATHENA European University)

This event is for those interested in keeping up with the latest developments in digital technologies for preservation and diagnostic support of historic buildings, as well as future trends. Graduate students, post-graduate students, architects, and industry practitioners are the typical profiles of attendees. However, there are no formal prerequisites in terms of academic degrees, so those who are less or more advanced in their careers will also be welcome.
The event includes 4 courses of 2h30 to 3h each providing complementary and transdisciplinary knowledge. The learning of knowledge will be facilitated by a small number of participants with practical application with high performance equipment. The organizers emphasize the importance of face-to-face interaction and networking in this type of research training event with fruitful discussion with leading researchers. An open session will allow participants to make short presentations or posters of their work in progress.

The full cost of participation in the 2 days of tutorials: training (theoretical and practical), accommodation and meals can be offered to a limited number of participants. These participants will only have to provide their own transportation to Orleans (France).
